Liverpool have completed the signing of Uruguayan defender Sebastian Coates from Nacional. The 20 year old joins Liverpool on a long term contract and rejected a move to Atletico Madrid to join his fellow compatriot Luis Suarez at Anfield. The defender joins Liverpool for a fee of £7million and is seen as being a long term successor for Jamie Carragher. Coates was voted the best young player during Uruguay's Copa America success and Luis Suarez played a major part in Coates joining Liverpool.
Coates: "Very happy to sign for a big club and to be able to be a team-mate of a friend like Luis Suarez."
