"It'll be a different challenge for him because the English Premier League is a league that takes a little bit of getting used to, so hopefully we can nurse him along, get him ready and he'll be a valuable addition to the squad.

"We look to sign young players that can improve and we looked at his performances throughout the Copa America when he was named Young Player of the Tournament. It's certainly exciting."

"We're basically a young team who are still getting to know each other and still working on strengths and weaknesses. "All over the team you can see little partnerships and combinations starting to form," "Hopefully over a period of time we'll improve and the team performances will improve too."

Fernandes: "I lived in Uxbridge Road for many years and grew up around the area. "Everyone knows I've followed West Ham all my life, but I've always had a soft spot for QPR. "Rangers were one of the first teams I watched as a child at Loftus Road."

"The opportunity to get involved with the club was mentioned to me by the previous owners and here I am. "I've always wanted to be involved in football and the appeal of a London club, like QPR, was too good an opportunity to turn down. "It's funny how life has a way of spinning things round. It goes full circle sometimes. "QPR is a raw diamond and hopefully I can contribute into turning it into a diamond."

"I have ambitions in the long term. "I could easily say we're going to win the Champions League and the Premier League, but that's really not my style. I don't want to make big promises I can't guarantee. "I want the fans to be proud of what we're doing and be involved as much as we can. The fans pay good money and are stakeholders, so whatever we do, I want the fans to be proud. We'll do it in style and with integrity. "I'm keen to create a good Academy, so that there's a constant supply of players. We're in a fantastic part of London and we should be bringing kids through. "The third aspect is to be a strong partner in the community and to make a difference in the community. "Of course you don't go into anything in the sporting world and not want to be the best, but these things take time and I'd rather let the results speaks for themselves."

Spurs have already rejected two bids from Chelsea for Modric, with the second offer believed to be in the region of £27million. Harry Redknapp revealed that he wants any deal for the playmaker concluded as soon as possible. If Modric does leave Spurs to join Chelsea, manager Harry Redknapp will have funds to strengthen his squad further before the end of this transfer season. With Redknapp opening the door for Modric to leave the club, Chelsea are expected to come in with a third offer and finally complete a deal for the Croatian midfielder.

Redknapp: "We've got two options with Luka. Either we keep a fantastic player or we sell him, get the money and bring in four players and have a better team. "I want him to stay but if he's going I want the opportunity to get other players in.

"There's no chance the chairman will sell him on the last day of the transfer window. He did that with Berbatov a few years ago and ended up with no strikers. He won't do that again. "It's a difficult situation for Modric. We all love our club and everything, but what would you do if someone offered to treble your wages?

"He's had his head turned by the chance to play in a team that could win the Champions League this season and I think people can probably understand that. "I'm sure there's still stuff going on with Chelsea and we have to be careful not to say 'he ain't going anywhere' and then he leaves.

"But the chairman has taken the stance that he doesn't want to lose him and I can't see that changing."

Redknapp on new signings: "We need to do some business because some of my players are nowhere near being ready. "People like Luka, Gareth Bale and Rafael Van der Vaart are looking to see if we're going to bring in a couple more quality players. They want to be successful and they know we need to improve. "We finished two points above Liverpool and they've just spent £100m on new signings to close that gap. "We need to improve our squad just to fend them off, never mind catching the four who finished above us."
