Mancini expresses his views ahead of next season

Manchester City ended last seasons' Barclays Premier League campaign as league winners, however Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is aware of the tough task that lies ahead for the Champions. The Citizens will start their defence of the title on the 19th of August as they take on newly promoted side Southampton at the Eithad Stadium. City boss Mancini has expressed his delight of winning the Premier League, however, the former Inter Milan manager knows that his side must avoid complacency and is also aware that threat possessed by Premier League rivals for the title next season is greater than ever. Mancini believes that if his side are to carry on their success into next season and go on to win the league, then, his side must remain focused and forget that they won the Barclays Premier League. Chelsea have been one of the biggest spenders in the transfer market so far and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich remains keen to improve his Champions League winning side, as Chelsea go into next season looking to win the league for the for the fifth time. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will be expecting a response from his side as they lost the title to City on the final day of the season. Mancini is  confident  that his side can come out victorious in their title defence next season, however, the City manager knows that it isn't going to be easy.

Roberto Mancini:"We did a good job for the last two years and I hope we can do a better one in the next five,""But we cannot rest or start thinking that because we won the title that we are the best. "I think there are four or five teams that can challenge but now, before the transfer window is closed, I think (Manchester) United and Chelsea will challenge us for the title"It is more difficult to win the title  when you are defending champions. We start again as if from nothing, we must forget that we won the title. Every team will want to beat us and we must work harder than ever. "
