Everton FC have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Manchester United to bring midfielder Darren Gibson to Goodison Park. Gibson joins Everton for a fee which is believe to be in the region of £2.5m. The 24 year old joins Everton on four-and-a-half-year deal and he will be most certainly be looking to establish himself in the Everton first team. Gibson is expected to play some part in Everton's fixture today against Aston Villa, after confirmation was received that he has made the squad to face Aston Villa.Gibson has been impressive at times when given the call up by Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, however the reasoning behind is move to Everton seems to be completely down to the fact that he has been given a very limited amount of first team opportunities at Old Trafford. Gibson is more commonly know for his ability strike a ball from just outside the box and he has done this on many occasions for Sir Alex Ferguson's side. Manchester United legend Paul Scholes recently came out of retirement to face Manchester City at the Ethaid stadium, in a match which saw United progress to the next round of the F.A cup. United won the match 2-3. The reintroduction of Paul Scholes, has seen the Gibson drop even further down in the picking order leaving him behind the likes of Anderson, Carrick, Giggs and Cleverly who is injured at this point in time. Gibson looks to be the ideal signing for Everton manager David Moyes, currently his Everton side doesn't possess much of a goal threat, however Moyes will be looking turn things around in front of goal following the reintroduction of LA Galaxy forward Landon Donovan. Donovan who had a successful loan spell with the Toffees in 2010, has also joined the club this month. Donovan's move comes in the form of a loan deal. Donovan is one of three MLS stars who have agreed to join Premier League sides this January. David Moyes decision to dip into the transfer market in search of attacking quality looks as though it could pay of. Gibson has scored 10 goals during his time at Old Trafford and Moyes will be hoping that his goal can help them increase their league position.
