Pappiss Demba Cisse's arrival at Newcastle has seen the toon army go on a magnificent run in recent weeks, which has now puts Newcastle in contention for a Champions League spot. The Senegalese striker has endured a great start to his carrier at Newcastle ever since completing his £10 million switch from German side Freiburg. Cisse has netted an impressive 10 goals in just 9 appearances for Newcastle, helping his side go level on points with Tottenham. Spurs and Newcastle are currently equal on 59 points, following a suprising outcome in the match between Tottenham and Norwich, which ended in a 1-2 victory to Norwich. Now that Newcastle find themselves level on points with Tottenham the Newcastle number nine has his sights set on a fourth place finish which will secure champions league football for Cisse and his Newcastle teammates. Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has been quick to dismiss the possibility of securing a champions league spot at times during the season, however the chances of Newcastle finishing in the top four are becoming more increasingly likely. With five games left of the season anything is possible and Cisse's sustained show of quality in front of goal is likely to help his side remain in the battle for Champions League football.
Cisse: "We don't really want to talk about it as we must take it match by match but of course it's difficult not to think about it. We are now so close. "It is within touching distance and yet still there are five games to go, which is a long way. "Of course I've watched the results in other matches. That is only natural. I'm human. "Chelsea scored in the last minute against Wigan, which was a shame for us, but there are still five games and 15 points at stake. "We must keeping going and giving everything, but it's my dream to play in the Champions League. "We're in there with several other teams in with a chance of making it. I can't believe it, but we are."
